The European Commission has introduced new regulations for large-scale inspections of truck emissions.

2025-11-11
Latest company news about The European Commission has introduced new regulations for large-scale inspections of truck emissions.

The European Commission has prepared a set of new regulations for the transport sector, called the 'Roadworthiness Package.' The proposed regulations include strengthening the monitoring of exhaust systems. The EU aims to remotely measure truck noise and nitrogen oxide emissions through roadside sensors, allowing for the identification of vehicles that do not comply with emission regulations, such as those with modified straight-through exhausts or blocked urea systems.

As early as on the roads of Denmark, similar special monitoring vehicles could be seen. These vehicles have exhaust composition sensors installed on their bumpers, and by driving alongside heavy trucks during detection, they can collect exhaust and check for compliance. However, this mobile measurement method is still relatively dangerous, and unmanned roadside fixed sensors are a safer and more efficient solution in comparison.
